| Conversation with the Chair, Dr. Mel Finkenberg Department of Kinesiology & Health Science |
COMMITMENT - Kinesiology and Heath Science has always been one of the forerunners of technology in the College of Education from first web-site to in-house training of faculty. They have recently provided a new computer lab; provide technology in the classroom by providing students with access to heart rate monitors, peak motion analysis systems, and metabolic analysis system with pulmonary function capabilities. The department has always been one of the leaders in providing each classroom space capabilities of computers, Internet and projection capabilities.
STRENGTHS - Since the last visit all of the above has been attained plus a EMG retainer system for the newly approved athletic training program.
WEAKNESSES - As any program would want, multiple systems listed above would be great but more of the motion analysis system would be top on the list. As you can tell providing hands-on equipment to be used in the classroom and by faculty has always been important. Funds are the reason further expansion has not occurred. They take great pride in providing exposure to minimally one piece of equipment necessary for each major with the necessary equipment.
The only weakness the department has is funding.
PLANS FOR IMPROVEMENT - Bod pods or fat analysis systems and expansion of athletic training equipment.
