Few places in Texas can match our picturesque university campus and recently, Nacogdoches county earned recognition on the top "100 Best" communities list. Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) is one of about a dozen universities in Texas that is both state and nationally certified  Our Reading Specialist program is Nationally Recognized (out of only a handfull in Texas). The government lists SFA accreditations here www.ope.ed.gov/accreditation.   How are SFA students doing?  Look to the right to see them in action with classroom students. Check out our lab school on campus and (construction of) our brand new research facility to watch exemplary teaching and learn hands-on how to become a "highly qualified" teacher. Read our Annual Reports to see how well SFA grads do on state teacher exams.  Read a recent letter from the Dean about our 100% passrate on state teacher exams. Why is all of this important to you?  It means other states will recognize your SFA teaching certificate (reciprocity) once you graduate and begin looking for a job. If students struggle, no problem--visit the Broken Spoon, our nationally recognized student support facility where students can tuor or be tutored. No wonder SFA was rated by Kapplan as a "hidden treasure."  Classroom students engaged in science activities
