All educators in Texas must
pass 2 tests--one in their content area and one pedagogy test. Technology and Diversity
are important standards required in Texas. This information is covered in the TEKS (skills all
children must master and all educators must teach). See example of technology & diversity being taught during field experiences. This information is also tested on the
pedagogy exams all Texas educators must pass.SFA students currently enjoy an exceptionally
high pass rate on all state exams. This indicates experience and coverage
of this information in course work and field classes at SFA meets the
standard expected in Texas.

FIELD PRACTICE
- Technology is covered
in the TEKS which are skills all Texas children must master.
- Our interns use these
TEKS when teaching in the field.

Notice for week

TEKS #1.19E - Use
available technology to compose text (K-3)
On this page is the lesson
plan outlined for the entire local district where our interns teach.
This particular example
pertains to what all first graders are expected to be learning during week
10 of the school year. This insures that all students receive explicit systematic
instruction according to the SBRR (scientific based reading research) that
our local Reading First Schools provide.
- Diversity is covered
in the TEKS, as well.
Example:

There is also a separate
