| . What is an Interactive TV Class? |
Read how Stephen F. Austin extends learning beyond campus walls. |
SFA is known for its
beautiful campus and was recently listed in Kaplan as a “hidden treasure.”
But, when you can’t find a way to get to SFA, we can bring SFA to YOU . . . |
| SFA now offers courses
using Interactive TV which allows SFA to extend their classes beyond the
campus walls.
New technology compresses and sends class lectures over microwave, miles from the SFA campus. Students at local and distant campuses can see and talk with each other via a large screen TV almost as if they were together in person. Notice how students at distant sites are able to join in on the large screen, visible behind these students. |

What is Dr.Abel’s class
like when using this new technology?
The class is really no different from any other except that it meets in a room furnished with the latest technology. |
| We can still enjoy hands-on activities and share ideas between all classes. |
Assignments include observing teachers teach reading in real classrooms and discussing what we learn online in chat rooms or using discussion boards. |
| Online quizzes permit
us to test our content knowledge and to retake them until we are confident
we understand.
You may even hear a story or two along the way. |
The document camera helps put movies and concrete items in full view of the entire class while discussing them. |
Since I enjoy drawing, I use this medium frequently to get points across while discussing them. |
